Knit Pant Workshop – Comfort and Fit
Date: Saturday, March 14
Time: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Join Irene for this focused, one-day workshop dedicated to sewing knit pants and achieving the perfect comfortable fit. This class is suitable for sewists eager to master sewing with stretch fabrics, ensuring your finished pants are stylish, comfortable, and professional-looking.
The Project: Your Choice
You bring the pattern, and Irene will help you master it! Any knit pant or legging pattern is acceptable. We recommend the popular Style Arc styles, which offer a great fit and range:
-
Parker Ponte Pant: A pull-on style featuring an elastic waist, straight leg, and cuffed hem, often made in stable knits like Ponte.
-
Anna Pant: A relaxed, straight-leg pant with a drawstring waist and optional inseam pockets, perfect for French Terry or velour.
-
Laura Leggings: A fitted pull-on legging with no side seams and multiple length options, requiring a 4-way stretch knit.
What You Will Master:
Irene will guide you through all the necessary techniques for sewing knits, including:
-
Selecting the right stitch and needle for your fabric.
-
Achieving a professional-looking elastic or drawstring waistband.
-
Accurate construction and fitting of knit pants, including proper seam finish and hemming for stretch fabrics.
This is a single-day, focused class where you will leave with a highly wearable piece and the confidence to sew more knit garments.
Note: This is a one-day class. Please bring your pre-washed knit fabric and pattern.
Please Bring:
